These traditional Peanut Butter Cookies really can't be beat! Made from scratch, they make 6 dozen and are a perfect cookie for your Valentine.

Servings: 6 dozen
  • 2 1/2 c unsifted flour
  • 1 c creamy or chunky peanut butter (I used creamy)
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1 c margarine
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 c firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 t vanilla
  1. Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

  2. In large bowl with mixer at medium speed beat margarine, and peanut butter until smooth. Beat in sugars until blended, then eggs and vanilla.

  3. Add flour mixture and beat until well blended. If necessary, chill dough.

  4. Shape into 1 inch balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten with a fork dipped in colored sugar.

  5. Bake in 350 degree oven until lightly browned (about 10 minutes). Remove from sheets and cool on a rack.
